If you have thought about this, it is likely that you are already well aware of your tastes. However, many people are not as involved in the process but still are interested in improving their homes by purchasing and showing off tasteful and fascinating artistic pieces at home that display their creativity and style. Aside from this, it's also very fun! But you may be wondering, how will you know what to buy, how do you find what you want, and most importantly how much should you be paying for it?

Do you desire to be a collector of fine art that has a home filled with beautiful sculptures and paintings? If this seems like you, then you’re probably conscious of the kinds of things you like having around. But if you’re reading this article you’re probably new to the world of art collecting, and you want to know how you can begin you own collection to enrich your home and explore your tastes. On top of this, you can have lots of fun shopping for art! But you may be wondering, how will you know what to buy, how do you find what you want, and most importantly how much should you be paying for it? Even the most experienced art collector is haunted by these questions.

Buying artwork is a very personal process, as you must truly explore what you enjoy, and learn how to appreciate your own preferences. Your choice of a painting or sculpture reflects a lot about you personally. Perhaps the most difficult thing about starting an art collection is to not be pressured to buy just what’s popular at the moment. You will find little satisfaction if you only buy what other people like. You will only truly express yourself if you purchase items that you really can relate to and you feel express yourself and forget about what other people are buying.

Deciding on a budget is the first objective before shopping for artwork. After that you need to decide whether you are buying art with a display area in mind, or if you are going to choose your pieces based on your feelings for the content and expression of the work. If you have a particular piece of prime real estate in your living room that is crying for a landscape painting and you’re aware of the exact size of the area you have all of the criteria you need and you can shop with confidence.

You can find an artist who does work that you consistently admire and then find out if there is a piece in her collection that will suit your needs. If you’re in search of art pieces to bring life to your walls or a sitting area and you’re limited to a very small budget such as twenty-five to fifty dollars you should think about buying a reproduction or poster print of a painting you already admire. For those with more money to spend, though, the options are vast. You might look into mixed media works, classic water colors or oils. You may prefer three dimensional art, or hanging wall art. Your tastes could pull you toward abstract works, more realistic or representational art. These picks are all available to you, and the possibilities never come to a stop.

When you are considering purchasing a very expensive piece, you may want to do some comparison shopping to ensure that you are okay with the purchase you are about to make. Original artwork is not the type of thing where you’ll find great bargains, despite the fact that many businesses are currently competing for your money. While you can offer to pay a reduced price, you can’t expect a significant discount.

One other thing to be aware of is that artwork shopping can sometimes be an intimidating experience, if it’s not something you’re personally familiar with. So long as you find the art you aspire to and don’t go with something you think you should have, you will be happier as a result. Don’t be afraid to talk to the artists at shows. You can ask questions about the process of creation, the inspiration of a piece as well as when and where the work was crafted. Artists thrive on feedback from patrons who truly appreciate their skills and creativity, and will be happy to talk with you and answer your questions about their work.

One matter that is extremely important to figure into the art buying equation is how to find artwork that is pleasing to both husband and wife. In this case, compromising is not recommended. Instead, you might want to purchase a piece for yourself and a piece for your spouse. If you can’t do this, you might be best served to simply get a new couch and put up a mirror. In the past, families in the United States simply hung a mirror and a couple of pictures in their main living area and called it good. Nowadays, many people enjoy expressing more about their interests and want to display a variety of visual imagery for their own enjoyment as well as for guests in their homes. Displaying your art collection is a great way to bring further enlightenment and relaxation into a home environment – and collecting it can be a great deal of fun.

www.weeklyphototips.com Hi everyone, we apologize for the long delay since our last video. Scott and I have been pretty busy with some recent photo and video shoots as well as moving the last of my gear from my old studio. Right now the new studio looks like a bomb went off in a camera store, but we will get it cleaned up as we are hosting Joel Grimes in less than two weeks. This week Scott gives us a quick example of how to make a very low cost DIY macro light for those Extreme Close-Ups. Using a set of high brightness LED key chain lights and some gaffers tape or Velcro, you can easily create a very powerful little tool that will fit in that last little nook of your camera bag. Come visit us at www.weeklyphototips.com for links and some example photos. Thanks for stopping by, feel free to bring a few friends next time, the more the merrier. See you next time on www.weeklyphototips.com
