Although the kitchen is one of the most used rooms in your home, the bathroom takes a close second. This is why making sure that the room is pleasant to look at and comfortable enough to utilize should be one of your top priorities when deciding to redecorate your home. After all, think of all the various activities that take place in your bathroom. Don’t you want a beautiful and comfortable area to preform these activities?
Most bathrooms start out fairly boring, the builders don’t want to do anything that alienates home buyers. If it is not too plain, then it is old and out of date, leftover from the previous owners. These are the common problems that most people have with their bathrooms. The room is utilitarian and functional, but not much else.
There are a few simple things that you can do to make it nicer and more to your liking. These things can be simple and inexpensive or you could go all the way and hire someone to come in and totally tear it apart and build you a new bathroom. So what can you do on your own that won’t break the bank? The best place to start is by listing what the room needs. Does it need a new vanity and sink combo? Does it need new flooring and paint? Start with the easy stuff that can make a big impact in a short amount of time.
One of the simplest things that you can do, that will make the largest difference is to change the paint on the walls. You can choose to do this by wallpapering, but this process will have to be repeated every few years as the paper becomes outdated and it is a time consuming process. The best way to change the look of your walls is with a fresh coat of paint. You will be amazed at how a fresh coat of paint can completely change the appearance of your room.
As long as the walls and ceiling are in good condition, you can change out the other parts of the bathroom fairly easily. Toilets can be upgraded in just an hour or so and a vanity and sink can be switched out in an afternoon. Changing out a bathtub is more difficult and I wouldn’t recommend anyone with no experience tackling a project like that. It might be better to call in some help for that.
