he sais you should post your photographys and let the people feedback on them.. i think this part is the most difficult one, because nowadays there are so many photgraphers all over the world, that it is nearly impossible to show your pictures to the better photographers, who really got some usefull tips, without any connections.. thats really difficult for beginners.. to kind of make the breakthrough

He’s a great speaker and I learned a ton of information here. I’m a beginner and I’m trying to learn more about the exposure settings to take better pictures. It’s confusing but it’s more fun, it’s more of a challenge to see what camera can do for the pictures. Great info, Great video!!

Wow! I loved it. Very helpful:)

Im surprised hes only recently got into prime lenses though. Most photographers allways have a prime lense to fall back on, spose hes fed up of low light conditions.

  17. malcr001 says:

A lot of it if youve have a dslr for a while you should already know although I think the root of what he is sayin is learn the basics, but dont be afraid to do something different and brake some of the rules thats how you set yourself apart. Sure expensive equipment may help more to getting a good quality photo but at the end of the day its down to the photographer not the equipment that gets the wow factor in the photo.
    Oh and practice every day.

He does know about megapixels and the point he makes is a very good one. A Canon 20D and a new age mobile phone camera both have around 8MP, which do you think will produce the better image? It’s not about MP, anything over 6MP will give you a decent size A3 print, glass and the quality of the sensor is more important. Peace.

All in all, if you’re a beginner, watch the video. Good basics. Clearly he doesn’t know about his megapixels, but it doesn’t matter. I think his brain leans more towards the creative end of photography and not the technical end. As does mine. Thanks for sharing!!

I thought it was very good. Lots of good general advice for beginners. I agree with pretty much everything he said.

  21. photonelectron says:

    basic stuff, prime lenses rule.

  24. PartTimePhotography says:

Good stuff – I’ll pass this along to all my newsletter subscribers.

  25. FlamingSnowman11 says:

Agreed, most of this is general knowledge, and honestly it doesn’t sound like this guy knows what he’s talking about. It’s nice that he’s presenting it, but I would suggest that he learns more about what he is presenting first. (some things like aperture and being more articulate in describing settings)
Then he clearly contradicts himself on ISO recommendations, it’s just geughe.

    I teach photo.
