hey i’ve been wanting to buy a tripod but with all wide arrays of tripod out there i can’t seem to choose what is best. Any suggestions?

would love to but so far i dont have a dslr that does video so cant give any tips. if it is grainy it sounds like the sensor is struggling with the low light trying to make it brighter and may be boosting up the iso. get fast lenses f1.8 or f1.4 but otherwise i dont know yet.

I saw your tutorial on low light settings, but I’m still experiencing some trouble…

I just bought the Nikon D90 yesterday, and I tried to take an HD video in low-light conditions (some inside and some outside at night) but it comes out grainy / with noise… I tried several things to stop it, but nothing seems to work!

    Could you help me out?

  4. dombower says:

@gjcjii depends on how fast the water is moving, anything from 1 second to 15 seconds is needed. lower your iso as low as possible and have your aperture with a big number ie f8 or more. a polorizor filter also helps get rid of some reflections. and use a tripod

  5. gjcjii says:

I would need a long exposer time, i have tried that but the water seems the same

    Thanks Graeme

  6. dombower says:

@gjcjii before i tell you the answer i want you to tell me what you think your settings would need to be.

It’s usually advised the VR is turned off because it produces vibrations itself. VR is only really effective when shooting by hand, in my experience.

what tripod , and head are u using?
I´m considering buying one but i have some doubts, like choose a ball head or a 3 way head or something like you show on your video), which one is more sturdy?
and the brand, like manfrotto, gitzo or giottos
i really need something sturdy and can handle a lot of weight like 4 or 5 kg (tops) (for some lenses are heavier)
    thnks
